Northeastern Ready for 10th Straight NCAA Rowing Championship

BETHEL, Ohio (May 30, 2024) – The Northeastern women’s rowing team will compete against the top crews in the nation this weekend at the 2024 NCAA Rowing Championships on Harsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio. The competition begins on Friday, May 31, and continues through Sunday, June 2.
The Huskies will make their 10
th straight appearance at the NCAA Championships and 13th overall. Previously, Northeastern has recorded three top-10 team finishes at the NCAA Championships, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in 1998. The Huskies Varsity Eight is seeded 18th, while their Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four are seeded 19th.
The Northeastern Varsity Eight will get things started on Friday, competing in heat two at 10:00 a.m. against No. 7 Washington, No. 3 Stanford, No. 5 Yale and No. 14 Virginia.
The Huskies’ Second Varsity Eight will follow at 11 a.m. in heat three, facing the field of No. 13 Rutgers, No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 Princeton, No. 14 Virginia and Jacksonville.
The Varsity Four will wrap up the action on day one at 11:48 a.m. in heat three versus No. 6 California, No. 4 Princeton, No. 9 Michigan, No. 12 Indiana and Jacksonville.
The top three crews from each heat advance to the A/B semifinal, while the remaining crews will race in the C/D semifinals. The two sets of semifinals are raced on Saturday morning. In the A/B semifinals, the top three advance to the A final to compete for places 1-6. The remaining three crews will race in the B final for places 7-12. The top three crews from each of the C/D semifinals will advance to the C final, where they will compete for places 13-18, while the remaining two crews will race in the D final for places 19-22.
The team championship is composed of 22 teams. Eleven conferences were awarded automatic qualification, and the remaining 11 slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the championship field. Teams qualifying for the championship as an automatic qualifier or as an at-large are required to field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers.
