BRISTOL, Conn. (May 7, 2024) – CAA Champion Colby Barsz, a senior defender from Towson University, was selected in the Premier Lacrosse League Draft on Tuesday night.

Barsz was the 24th overall pick in the third round by the Utah Archers. The PLL Draft began in 2019, and the CAA has had at least one men’s lacrosse student-athlete drafted in all six years of the professional league draft (2019-2024).

Barsz earned his third consecutive First Team All-CAA honors this spring and second straight at close defense. The Mathews, N.C. native switched from LSM to close defense following the 2022 season and has made 31 consecutive starts for Towson. Barsz has appeared in 61 games for the black and gold during his four-year career, recording 64 caused turnovers and 87 ground balls. The senior tallied double-digit caused turnovers in all four seasons, including a career-best 22 this spring, adding 23 ground balls on the top-ranked scoring defense in the NCAA this season.

The Utah Archers open the 2024 season on Saturday, June 1, against the Philadelphia Waterdogs at noon on ABC and ESPN+.
