Nine CAA Women’s Lacrosse Players Named to USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Lists

SPARKS, Md. (May 9, 2024) – Nine CAA women’s lacrosse players – six from Stony Brook, two from Drexel, and one from Delaware – were named to USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America teams on Thursday.
Stony Brook’s
Ellie Masera was named to the first team, Drexel’s
Jenika Cuocco and Stony Brook’s
Clare Levy were selected as second-team honorees, Stony Brook’s
Avery Hines was honored with third-team accolades, and Delaware’s
Madison Hranicka, Drexel’s
Corinne Bednarik, and Stony Brook’s
Alex Finn,
Kailyn Hart, and
Charlotte Verhulst earned honorable mention distinction.
Masera enters the NCAA Tournament second in the nation in points/game (6.12), goals/game (4.06), and ninth in draws/game (8.00) and a Tewaaraton nominee for the third straight season. Her 104 points in 2024 for No. 14 Stony Brook are eight shy of the CAA single-season record, while her 136 draws are 15 back of the single-season mark set by Elon’s
MJ Santa Barbara earlier this season. Masera collected back-to-back CAA Midfielder of the Year honors last month.
Cuocco has staked her claim as one of the nation’s top goalies this year as No. 22 Drexel qualified for its fourth straight NCAA Tournament. The redshirt sophomore from Long Island leads the nation in saves/game (11.94), is second in save percentage (.580), and 10
th in goals-against average (8.77) for the 13-5 Dragons. Cuocco was CAA Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive year.
Levy and Hines have been key parts of Stony Brook’s top-five defense entering the NCAA Tournament. The duo has contributed to a back line holding opponents to 7.79 goals/game – second in the nation – while Hines is fourth in the nation at 3.16 caused turnovers/game with her 60 total CTs ranking second in a season in league history.
Hranicka ranked second in the nation this year in caused turnovers/game (3.56) for a Delaware defense that ranked 22
nd nationally in goals allowed/game. Bednarik enters NCAA Tournament play eighth nationally with 5.44 points/game. Finn’s 52 assists rank ninth nationally while her 2.74/game are 11
th in the country. Hart is eighth in the nation with 68 goals and rattled off seven in the CAA Semifinals. Verhulst’s two-way contribution has included her efforts on a draw unit that ranks in the top 25 nationally, while also being the conference’s second-most accurate player in her shot selection.
