SPARKS, Md. (May 9, 2024) – Five CAA Men’s Lacrosse student-athletes – three from Towson and two from Delaware – earned All-America praise from USA Lacrosse Magazine, announced by the publication Thursday morning.

Towson sophomore Mikey Weisshaar was a Third Team All-America selection in the midfield. His teammates, senior defender Colby Barsz and graduate attackman Nick DeMaio received honorable mention recognition, along with Delaware senior goalkeeper Kevin Ellington and senior attackman JP Ward.

After CAA All-Rookie team honors in 2023, Weisshaar was a First Team All-CAA selection before collecting his first All-America nod. The sophomore ranks fourth in the CAA with 58 points. Weisshaar tallied 39 goals and 19 assists, helping Towson to rank top-10 nationally in scoring offense.

Barsz earned his third consecutive First Team All-CAA honors this spring, while DeMaio was the CAA Offensive Player of the Year, earning first-team accolades for the first time. Barsz is a linchpin to the top-scoring defense in the nation, typically drawing the assignment of the top attack threat for the opponent. The senior set a career-high with 22 caused turnovers, adding 23 ground balls and his second career goal this season. DeMaio was the captain of the attack, setting career highs with 80 points and 46 assists while netting 32 goals. The graduate ranks third in the NCAA with 3.00 assists per game and fifth with 5.00 points per contest.

Ellington was the CAA Defensive Player of the Year, and Ward was a First Team All-CAA selection for the third straight season. After appearing in just two games during his first three seasons with the Blue Hens, Ellington started all 14 contests between the pipes for Delaware in 2024. The senior was third nationally in save percentage (.590), sixth in saves per game (13.36) and 10th in goals-against average (9.60). Ward surpassed 50 points for the third season in a row, tallying 33 assists and 26 goals. The senior became the CAA career leader for assists with 112 during his four-year career, eclipsing the previous mark of 111 set in 2021.
