Buchanan Award Preseason Watch List Includes Three From CAA Football

2024 Buck Buchanan Award Preseason Watch List | The Analyst
RICHMOND, Va. (July 31, 2024) – Three CAA Football all-conference performers have been selected to the preseason Watch List for the 2024 Stats Perform FCS Buck Buchanan Award, which is presented to the national Defensive Player of the Year in FCS football.
Chosen to the preseason watch list were UNH senior defensive end
Josiah Silver, Elon junior safety
Caleb Curtain and Villanova senior cornerback
Isas Waxter.
Silver recorded 43 tackles last season and topped the Wildcats with 9.5 TFL’s, 5.0 sacks and eight quarterback hurries. In 2022, he received four All-America honors after contributing 17.5 TFL’s and 8.5 sacks.
Curtain, the CAA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, is coming off a sensational sophomore campaign in which he topped the Phoenix with 80 tackles, added 6.5 TFL’s and 4.5 sacks, and tied for the CAA lead with four interceptions. He received second team All-America accolades.
Waxter tallied 26 tackles and 4.0 TFL’s in 2023. The Wildcats’ cornerback also topped the team with three interceptions and eight pass breakups to claim a spot on the FCS Football Central All-America squad.
The Buchanan Award preseason watch list includes 30 players representing all 13 FCS conferences. The award will be presented on January 5, 2025 in Frisco, Texas.
