RICHMOND, Va. (Aug. 29, 2024) – CAA field hockey, volleyball, and cross country teams open their fall seasons this weekend, while another weekend of soccer around the league features a host of high-major tests on the women’s side.
Field Hockey | Schedule
A packed opening weekend of the CAA field hockey schedule features four games against top-20 teams.
On Friday, William & Mary opens the season at No. 5 Duke (2 p.m., ACCNX) and Northeastern heads over to No. 17 Boston College (5 p.m., ACCNX, while Drexel hosts Sacred Heart (4 p.m., FloLive) and Towson takes a trip down to Appalachian State (4 p.m., Twitch).
Monmouth plays Saturday’s lone game when hosting Lehigh (12 p.m., FloLive) before Sunday’s six-game slate begins with Hofstra hosting No. 18 Old Dominion (12 p.m., FloLive) in the Pride’s season opener. Drexel takes on No. 4 Maryland (1 p.m., B1G+), Delaware opens its season at Lafayette (1 p.m., ESPN+), Northeastern at William & Mary are home for games on FloLive, and Towson is on the road. Monmouth will host VCU on Monday (1 p.m., FloLive) to round out the weekend.
Volleyball | Schedule
The opening weekend of the 2024 CAA Volleyball season features 34 matches across Friday (16), Saturday (13), and Sunday (5).
Six of the matches will be played against Power 4 competition with two on each day. Delaware opens the season on Friday at Michigan (6 p.m., B1G+), while Hofstra plays at Wake Forest in its season-opener (6 p.m., ACCNX). Saturday, William & Mary plays Virginia in Norfolk and Charleston is at North Carolina (neither match is scheduled to be streamed.) Sunday’s schedule is highlighted by Campbell’s match at No. 23 Baylor (1 p.m., ESPN+), while Hofstra closes out its weekend, while Hofstra finishes its trip to North Carolina by facing West Virginia.
N.C. A&T will face NC Central in a home-and-home with Friday’s match played at the Corbett Center (6 p.m., FloVolleyball), UNCW and Towson host tournaments, Elon opens its season with a tournament at Davidson, Hampton begins the year with three at Buffalo, and Stony Brook will play three at James Madison.
Cross Country | Schedule
Nine programs open the fall with events over the weekend.
On Friday, Charleston will run locally at Charleston Southern’s race, Delaware is at Lehigh, Monmouth competes in Pennsylvania at an event hosted by Temple, N.C. A&T is at Duke, UNCW is at East Carolina, Towson is at Goucher. Stony Brook will host a meet on Saturday, Northeastern is at UMass, and William & Mary will take a trip up to Richmond.
Women’s Soccer | Schedule
The upcoming week’s stretch of women’s soccer contests is filled with high-profile opponents.
Thursday’s eight-game docket opens with a home game for Hofstra against Brown (1 p.m., FloFC) and is concluded by a night schedule that includes UNCW’s visit to a Duke side receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll (7 p.m., ACCNX). Campbell, Monmouth, Towson, William & Mary, and Drexel will hit the road for Thursday games. Delaware will face Liberty in Friday’s lone contest.
Sunday’s slate is highlighted by Towson hosting Florida (12 p.m., FloFC) and Campbell welcoming in 2023 NCAA Semifinalist Clemson (4 p.m., FloFC). Charleston, Drexel, and Monmouth will be home on FloFC in addition to a home contest for William & Mary, while Stony Brook, Delaware, and Elon are on the road.
Monday’s lone contest sees Northeastern host a Harvard team receiving votes (6:30 p.m., NESN+/FloFC), Hampton is at Mississippi Valley State (5 p.m., YouTube) on Tuesday, and Charleston will visit USC Upstate on Wednesday.
Men’s Soccer | Schedule
The second week of CAA Men’s Soccer consists of 14 home games around the league on FloFC.
Three of those contests will take place on Thursday, with Stony Brook, Hofstra, and Campbell at home, while Charleston, Elon, and Monmouth hit the road. Drexel and UNCW are home Friday with Delaware on the road, William & Mary visits New Hampshire on Saturday (6 p.m., ESPN+), and Northeastern and Monmouth are home Sunday.
Four of five teams in action Monday – Hofstra, Charleston, Elon, and UNCW – are home with Campbell on the road, Stony Brook and Delaware host games Tuesday, and William & Mary does Wednesday.
