RICHMOND, Va. (Sep. 16, 2024) – Charleston senior Leonardo D’Ambrosio, Drexel junior Raphael Bartell, and Northeastern freshman Tomas Sciarra are the CAA men’s soccer weekly award winners for the week ending September 15.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Leonardo D’Ambrosio, Charleston
Senior| Forward | Turin, Italy
D’Ambrosio’s six-point weekend helped extend Charleston’s win streak to six games to start the season. The senior forward opened his week with an assist in the Cougars’ 3-1 victory over Queens (N.C.). Heading back into CAA play, D’Ambrosio continued his hot start tacking on five points in Charleston’s 4-2 over Stony Brook. Holding a 2-1 in the second half, it was D’Ambrosio who tallied two goals to extend the lead to four and secure the victory. The Italian native also had an assist in the win.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Raphael Bartell, Drexel

Starting his first two games since Aug. 25, Bartell recorded two shutout performances between the posts during an undefeated week for Drexel. The German native opened the week against Temple where he tallied four saves in a 2-0 victory. Just four days later, the Dragons returned to play against CAA opponent Northeastern, where Bartell once again held strong shutting out the Huskies’ offense with four saves in a 1-0 win.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Tomas Sciarra, Northeastern
Freshman | Forward | Miami, Fla. / Gulliver Prep
Sciarra tallied his first collegiate points in emphatic fashion, recording five in Northeastern’s 4-1 victory over Merrimack on Tuesday. Just 22 minutes into his first start, Sciarra tallied an assist on the game-opener. Then early in the second half, it was Sciarra who turned from helper to provider scoring two goals and extending Northeastern’s lead.
