CAA Cross Country Weekly Awards - Sept. 17

RICHMOND, Va. (September 17, 2024) – Stony Brook swept the CAA cross country weekly awards after a pair of first-place finishes helped the Seawolves capture the men’s and women’s titles at the Jasper Fall Invitational. Sophomore Collin Gilstrap was named the Men’s Runner of the Week and senior Grace Weigele was chosen as the Women’s Runner of the Week.
 
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Grace Weigele, Stony Brook
Senior | Huntington Station, N.Y.
Weigele captured the individual title at the Jasper Fall Invitational, leading Stony Brook to a first-place team finish. The senior finished the 6K course in a time of 20:24.2, taking the top spot by 1.4 seconds to earn her second win of the year. The Seawolves recorded their first team victory of 2024, topping a field of 11 squads.
 
MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Collin Gilstrap, Stony Brook
Sophomore | Central Valley, N.Y.
Gilstrap posted a first-place finish at the Jasper Fall Invitational, helping Stony Brook capture the team title. The sophomore completed the 8K course in a time of 24:41.9, which was a new personal best, and won the race by over nine seconds. It was the second team victory of the season for the Seawolves, who outran 12 other squads.
