Janne Stoetzer are the CAA field hockey weekly award winners for the week ending September 29.
CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Rowe, Northeastern
Graduate | Defense/Midfield | Norwich England / Norwich School
Tallying her fourth career hat trick this past week, Rowe had a superb showing against UMass Lowell which saw her earn seven points. Down one just three minutes into the contest, the graduate student fired home three first-half goals to swing the game in favor of Northeastern, before assisting the Huskies’ fifth of the afternoon. Rowe becomes the first player for Northeastern to record a hat trick this season.
CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Valentine Van Hellemont, Drexel
Sophmore | Forward | Lier, Belgium / Sint-Aloysius Institute
Drexel’s 4-0 victory over Rider was bookmarked by Van Hellemont’s first collegiate hat trick. After being held scoreless to start the season, the 2023 CAA Rookie of the Year burst onto the scene for the Dragons early in the second half, tacking on three goals in the space of 12 minutes and extending Drexel’s lead to four.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Pien Elsen, Drexel
Sophomore | Defender | Rotterdam, Netherlands / Lyceum Rotterdam
Elsen contributed on both ends of the field this week, holding No. 20 Monmouth to one goal, and tallying three points. Friday’s contest saw the sophomore defender anchor a backline that held Monmouth to five shots with two falling on target. Elsen contributed on the attack as well scoring Drexel’s first of two goals in the victory. Two days later, Elsen once again held strong defensively helping the Dragons’ earn a shutout against Rider, and recording an assist along the way.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Janne Stoetzer, Delaware
Freshman | Forward | Nijmegen, Netherlands / Citadel College
Stoetzer notched a career-high three points in one game during Delaware’s 4-0 victory over Hofstra. Three minutes into the contest, the freshman forward turned provider, tallying an assist on the Blue Hens’ opener. Stoetzer found herself on the scoresheet at the tail end of the third quarter when she received a pass right in front of the goalkeeper to double the lead.
