Stony Brook 87, Charleston 83 (OT)

Zaida Gonzalez’s career scoring night marked the highest by a CAA player this season, as Stony Brook (8-7, 3-1) beat undefeated Charleston (12-3, 3-1)  87-83, in overtime.

Gonzalez’s 37-point performance marked a career high with 10 coming in overtime. With 8:15 to go in the fourth quarter Charleston led the Seawolves by nine points. A three pointer from Gonzalez cut the lead down to six, with Gonzalez continuing to put on a show scoring 13 points bringing the Cougars’ lead down to one. Charleston’s Taylor Barbot knocked down a free throw to extend the advantage to two, before Gonzalez scored a layup with one second left in regulation. She proved to be the hero knocking down eight free throws in the last 43 seconds of the extra session to secure the win. Charleston’s Taylor Barbot had an impressive 29 points on 9-15 shooting.
 

UNCW 51, Northeastern 48

Box Score

Jania Hall scored a team-high 13 points off the bench and Ali Zelaya just missed a double-double with 11 point and nine rebounds to set up a 51-48 win for UNCW (8-8, 2-1) over Northeastern (1-11, 0-3).

Campbell 72, Hampton 42

Box Score

A 22-point first quarter set Campbell (8-7, 1-2) up for a 72-42  victory over Hampton (4-11, 0-4).

Within 25 seconds of tip-off, Gianni Boone and Gemma Nunez had Campbell out to a 4-0 lead. The Camels were up by as much as 14 in the first frame, before entering the second with a 22-8 lead. Nunez scored seven of her 11 points in the first, while Ciara Alexander had six of her team-high16 fall in the frame. Campbell extended the advantage to 17 at the break and outscored the Pirates by 10 in the third period. Jasha Clinton led Hampton with nine points.

 Chloe Sterling’s 17-point performance lifted Hofstra (8-7, 3-1) over Drexel (6-7, 2-1) 60-53.

After going scoreless in the first quarter, Sterling came out firing in the second, knocking down a three 16 seconds into the second to extend Hofstra’s lead to seven. After two quick free throws, Sterling kept her foot on the gas firing another three-pointer to move the Pride’s advantage to 12. Sterling was a perfect 2-2 from deep in the quarter and 3-4 from the field, contributing to 10 of Hofstra’s 22 points. Drexel trailed by 10 at the half, but pulled within six on a Molly Lavin three-pointer with 2:44 to go in the third quarter. However, the Dragons would get no closer than five the rest of the way. Amaris Baker tallied another double-digit performance with 14 points for Drexel, while Zyheima Swint posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for Hofstra.

William & Mary got 53 combined points from Bella Nascimento and Cassidy Geddes, propelling the Tribe (5-10, 2-2) to an 83-74 victory against Monmouth (7-8, 2-2).

The Tribe shot 47.7% from the field, marking the program’s second-highest shooting clip this season, alongside 36.8% from deep. Nascimento was steady throughout, scoring 6 or more points each quarter to hit a game-high 27. After six first-half points, Geddes found her shooting form in the fourth quarter with 15 points, making up over half of William Mary’s quarter total.  She was a perfect 2-2 from deep on 4-5 shooting from the field on her 26 points. Monmouth’s Damaris Rodriguez tied Nascimento’s game-high with 27 of her own on 12-16 shooting from the field. Taisha Exanor had a double-double with 14 point and 11 rebounds.


N.C. A&T 61, Towson 59

Down 48-43 heading into the fourth frame, seven straight points in the first two minutes of the final frame helped N.C. A&T (8-7, 4-0) earn a 61-59 comeback win over Towson (3-12, 1-3). 

Within the first two minutes of the final frame, A&T scored four buckets to overturn a five-point deficit to lead 51-48. After Paris Locke hit a three for the Aggies, Towson went on a 9-0 run of its own to enter the final two and a half minutes up 58-54. Maleia Bracone scored a three to pull A&T to within one before Chaniya Clark hit another deep ball with 14 seconds on the clock to take a one-point advantage. Bracone converted 1-2 free throws in the last ten seconds, to boost A&T’s lead to two before a missed three-pointer from Towson secured the victory. Clark led the Aggies with 17 points and 10 rebounds on 4-6 shooting from the floor. India Johnston led all scorers with 21 points for Towson.
