RICHMOND, Va. – Elon men’s basketball head coach Billy Taylor was named the recipient of the Hugh Durham Award ‘Mid-Season’ honors, as announced by CollegeInsider.com this week.

After seeing his team picked 12th in the CAA Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the third-year head coach has led the Phoenix to a 13-5 overall record and a 4-1 mark ahead of its Saturday matchup with Delaware. Elon boasts a 7-0 mark in home matches, which is the best home start since joining the CAA.

A win on Saturday would give the team its 14th win in 19 outings, the program’s best start since making the jump to the NCAA Division I level. It would also match the team’s win total from the 2023-24 season.

Elon paces the conference and ranks fifth in the nation with 42.9 rebounds per game. Furthermore, the team sits in the top 20 with 28.8 defensive boards (12th in NCAA) and 14.1 offensive rebounds (16th in NCAA) per game. The Phoenix has also outscored its opponents by 9.3 points per game while holding the opposition to a 38.1 percent shooting clip from the floor, both good for second in CAA.
