NEWS AND NOTES
One To Remember
In one of the most exciting matchups of the season, Drexel overcome a 58-57 deficit to beat Hampton with three seconds remaining in the game. Amaris Baker went off in the fourth quarter, dropping 14 points including the game winner. With three seconds on the clock, Baker made a base line floater to give Drexel the lead, marking the first time the Dragons scored in the final 10 seconds of a game to win since Chloe Hodges scored with three seconds remaining against Towson in the CAA Semifinals in 2024.
A Special Start to Conference Play
Despite losing its first conference game to N.C. A&T on Jan. 3, Elon has improved to 4-1 in CAA action, marking the best start to a season since the 2016-17 campaign when it went 5-1. Three out of the Phoenix’s four victories have come against teams who post a .500-win percentage or higher. During the stretch, three players chart double-digit points per game: Iycez Adams (11.4), Jayda Angel (11.6), and Raven Preston (10.4).
There’s No Place Like Home
With two wins against UNCW and Delaware from Buies Creek, Campbell remains the only team in the conference to not have a loss to its name at home. Posting an 8-0 record from Wanda Watkins Court, Campbell rides a three-game win streak and now sits fourth in the conference standings. The Camels are one of just four teams to earn 10 or more wins this season, with eight coming from its home court.
Dimes! Dimes! Dimes!
Thirteen was the number to beat, and Monmouth’s Damaris Rodriguez got there. With 13 assists against UNCW, Rodriguez tied the single-game program record with her tally, becoming the first player to do so since Rachel Goodale in 1997.The New Jersey native had just four to her name in the first half, but got going in the second. Rodriguez sits fourth in the conference with 4.1 assists per game, and second in total helpers this season with 70.
One Ticket to the Block Party Please
Elon’s Iycez Adams needed just four blocks against Hofstra to join the 100 club in her collegiate career, and she did just that. Adams currently sits seventh in the CAA in blocks per game, averaging 1.2.
