CAA Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards – Jan. 28

RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 28, 2025) – Four programs earned recognition in this week’s CAA weekly indoor track and field awards. Towson graduate student Piper Jons, Elon junior Lizzie Lopez, Hofstra junior Abraham Longosiwa, and Monmouth senior Ahmad Brocks all garnered recognition for their performances last weekend.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Piper Jons, Towson
Graduate Student | Sprints | Ljamsville Md. / Urbana
Jons competed in three events last weekend at the Dr. Sander Scorcher, placing nationally in all three. In the 400m, the graduate student crossed the line in a time of 53.70 to set a Towson program record and place 28thnationally. Jons won the 200m and set another program record to secure the 30th-best time in the nation at 23.60. The Maryland sprinter finished her weekend as a part of the 74th-best 4x400m relay time in the country at 3:43:39, marking the second fastest in Towson history.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lizzie Lopez, Elon
Junior | Multis | Sparks, Md. / Hereford
Lopez set a career-best point total in the pentathlon with 3,386. Marking the most in the CAA this season and 77thbest nationally, the junior sent personal bests in three of the five events (high jump, 60m hurdles, and long jump) to record the fourth-best point tally in program history.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Abraham Longosiwa, Hofstra
Junior | Long Distance | Eldoret, Kenya/ Goseta Boys

Longosiwa took home first place at the Dr. Sander Scorcher in the 3000m event. Setting a personal best time of 7:58:92, the Kenyan long-distance runner now ranks 43rd in the national rankings for his performance on Friday. 

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ahmad Brock, Monmouth
Senior | Jumps | Egg Harbor Township, NJ / Egg Harbor Township High School

Brock picks up his second CAA Weekly Award, after a strong performance in the long jump. The senior leapt 7.45m (24’ 5.5”) at the Dr. Sander Scorcher, placing 46thnationally, and producing the second-best performance in Monmouth’s history during the event. He also registered a 6.85 time in the 60m dash.
