RICHMOND, Va (Jan. 28, 2025)  CAA women’s basketball Player of the Week Amaris Baker of Drexel has been selected as a National Player of the Week by the USWBA (U.S. Basketball Writers Association) on Tuesday. Baker is the first CAA women’s basketball student-athlete to garner national recognition this season.

Baker has been in fine form for the Dragons, taking home the previous two CAA Player of the Week awards. In a week that saw Drexel go 2-0, the senior guard averaged 21.5 points and 4.0 rebounds. Baker had team-highs in both games, with 19 points against Charleston, including a clutch 3-pointer with 1:06 to go, and 24 points against Elon on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor.

The Philadelphia native leads the CAA and sits 33rd nationally in points per game, averaging 19.0 through her first 17 games. Baker was also named the Women’s Big 5 Player of the Week for her performance.
