(Oct. 30, 2025) – Stony Brook and Elon advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 CAA Women’s Soccer Championship following their respective wins on Thursday. The Seawolves (11-6-1) will head to West Long Branch, N.J., to square off with North Division Champion and top seed Monmouth in a 1 p.m. showdown on Sunday. Elon (11-2-5) will travel to Wilmington, N.C. to take on the South Division Champion and top-seeded UNCW at 1 p.m. on Sunday. North Division Quarterfinals – No. 2 Stony Brook 2, No. 3 Hofstra 1 (OT) BOX SCORE | HIGHLIGHTS | PHOTO GALLERY Reilly Rich notched a brace and her sixth game-winning goal with a golden goal from the PK dot to lift Stony Brook past Hofstra in a 2-1 overtime thriller. The league’s top scorer drew contact in the box, and after review, was awarded a penalty kick attempt. Rich lined up her strike and placed it into the bottom right corner in the 100th minute to tally her 15th goal of the campaign and send Stony Brook into the next round. The Seawolves weathered the Pride’s (6-5-7) 25 shot attempts, including nine on frame through 100 minutes of action. Goalkeeper Jona Hennings made eight stops in the team’s second-ever win over the Pride. The two squads battled through the wet and blustery conditions over the first 30 minutes of action until Stony Brook broke the scoreless tie in the 31st minute. With a free kick near midfield, Abigail Roche utilized strong winds to carry the ball into the box to find the CAA’s leading scorer, Rich. The All-CAA First Team selection headed the feed into the right corner to give Stony Brook a 1-0 edge. Hofstra’s Carly-Ann Dziewirz nearly tied the game before halftime with a prime chance in the final minute. Amy Meadows won a 50/50 ball just outside the box, looking to set up a point-blank opportunity for Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir. The blocked shot attempt was redirected to the feet of Dziewirz, who sent her attempt just above the crossbar with 15 seconds to go. The Pride continued to pester the Seawolves to start the second half until Hofstra evened the score in the 56th minute. Just two minutes after a prime chance for the Pride in close, Mathilde Braithwaite notched her fifth of the season, catching the Seawolves’ defense off guard and tucking away a floater from outside the box to knot the game at one. The two teams staved off chances over the final 34 minutes of regulation, including a pinball effort in the box over the final 20 seconds that saw no shot attempt for the Seawolves. Both teams registered two shot attempts in the extra period before Rich scored her game-winner. South Division Quarterfinals- No. 3 Elon 1, No. 2 William & Mary 0 BOX SCORE | HIGHLIGHTS | PHOTO GALLERY After getting a goal from Ashlee Brehio five minutes into the matchup, No. 3 Elon was resilient at the back to earn a clean sheet and defeat No. 2 William & Mary 1-0. Facing 18 shots, the Phoenix allowed just six from the Tribe (7-7-4) to fall on target, with Katie Bisgrove being equal to each one. The All-CAA Second Team selection collected her 10th win of the season and now has a career-high eight shutouts. Elon took the lead less than five minutes into the matchup after a deep free kick from inside its own half found an on-running Brehio. The Phoenix captain poked the ball through the legs of Tribe goalie Gwen Doughty before wheeling off to celebrate her fourth goal of the season. Both goalies saw their names called on for the remainder of the half, but it was the Tribe’s defense that made a few decisive stops. First came a headed goal-line clearance from Leila Green, then a last-ditch tackle from Nora Green-Orset to stop Jess Beck, who was clean through on goal. Searching for an answer, William & Mary kept on the attack, but one of the nation’s top defenses held strong. Mia Abbey had the best opportunity of the half for William & Mary when the ball found her six yards out from goal. With her back to the goal, Abbey tried flicking the ball on target, but Bisgrove was once again equal to it. Trading opportunities through the final 10 minutes, Ivey Crain found herself clean through on goal with a chance to bring the game level. Slipping between the Phoenix center backs, the ball was just ahead of the Tribe attacker, giving Bisgrove an opportunity to come off the line to collect the ball and ultimately seal the win. 2025 CAA Women’s Soccer Championship Thursday, Oct. 30 G1: No. 2 Stony Brook 2, No. 3 Hofstra 1 (OT) G2: No. 3 Elon 1, No. 2 William & Mary 0 Sunday, Nov. 2 G3: No. 2 Stony Brook at No. 1 Monmouth 1 p.m. G4:No. 3 Elon at No. 1 UNCW 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 / Sunday, Nov. 9 G5: Winner of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 4 TBD Follow #CAASoccer on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to get up-to-date information and learn more about CAA member institutions and their soccer programs.
