Elon Captures Sixth CAA Women's Cross Country Championship In Past Seven Years

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (October 31, 2025) – Elon placed four runners in the top eight and captured its sixth CAA Women’s Cross Country Championship in the past seven years with a dominant performance on Friday morning at Ocean County Park in Lakewood, N.J.
Leading the way for the Phoenix was junior Katie Blount, who completed the 6K course in a winning time of 19:55. It was the second-fastest time in championship history, trailing only Elon’s Maria Ahm (19:37.3) in 2020.
Elon finished with 28 points to take the top spot as William & Mary came in second with 68 points and defending champion Northeastern took third with 100 points. Finishing fourth was Monmouth (102 points) followed by Charleston (141 points), Stony Brook (161 points), Hofstra (214 points), Campbell (219 points), Towson (255 points), Hampton (299 points), North Carolina A&T (322 points) and UNCW (333 points).
Elon, which won five straight CAA titles from 2019-23 before placing third a year ago, got impressive performances from its entire squad. In addition to Blount, Abigail Beville (20:29.8) finished third, Hannah Weber (20:42.1) was right behind in fourth and Kate Buerger (21:18.7) placed eighth. Rounding out the scoring for Elon was Sarah Petitjean (21:24.3) in 12
th. The Phoenix had two other runners earn all-conference status as Jasmine Young (21:28.5) was 14
th and Quinn Smith (21:30.2) was 15
th.
William & Mary finished second for the second year in a row as the Tribe had five runners in the top 21. Senior Perry Irons (20:01.6) battled with Blount at the front of the pack for much of the race before placing second. Molly Weithman (21:27.1) took 13
th place, followed closely by Kelly Ann Sutterfield (21:35.8) in 17
th, Veronica Znajda (21:43.7) in 20
th and Maddie Gypson (21:45.3) in 21
st.
Third-place Northeastern was paced by Keira Gamily (21:18.4) in 7
th place and Stephanie Kriss (21:42.3) in 19
th, while fourth-place Monmouth had a pair of runners in top 10 with Brianna Jucewicz (21:19.8) in 9
th and Kristen Sarnicola (21:20.1) in 10
th.
The top 15 individual finishers received All-CAA honors. Joining the runners from the top four teams were Hofstra’s Isabella Spagnoli (5
th place – 21:01.4), North Carolina A&T’s Deavion Deleon (6
th place – 21:14.9) and Stony Brook’s Shaylen Goslar (11
th place – 21:20.8).
