Hofstra Claims Its First CAA Men's Cross Country Championship

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (October 31, 2025) – Hofstra claimed its first-ever CAA Men’s Cross Country Championship on Friday morning at Ocean County Park in Lakewood, N.J. as the Pride had the top two individual finishers.

Hofstra freshman Fredrick Kipkosgei became the first Pride runner since 2020 to earn the individual championship, crossing the line with a winning time of 23:01.6, which is the second-fastest in league history. Teammate Abraham Longosiwa placed second for the second year in a row with a time of 23:25.6.

Hofstra finished with 44 points to beat out second-place Northeastern (51 points), three-time defending champion Stony Brook (67 points) and perennial power William & Mary (69 points). Monmouth (118 points) placed fifth followed by Charleston (175 points), Elon (201 points), Campbell (257 points), UNCW (266 points), North Carolina A&T (326 points) and Hampton (326 points).



Hofstra, whose best previous team finish was a tie for third in 2018, had four runners place in the top 11. Kipkosgei became the first individual champion from Hofstra since Alex Masai captured three straight championships from 2018-20. Kipkosgei and Longosiwa were followed by Jason Kerber (24:03.1) in 9th place and Abel Kipkemboi (24:06.5) in 11th place. Rounding out the scoring was Noah Zeitzer (24:34) in 20th.

Northeastern placed second for the 12th time in the last 13 years. The Huskies had a trio of runners cross the line in a six-second span with Dawson French (23:41.9) taking fourth, followed by Patrick Cantlon (23:45.7) in fifth and Nico Boyle (23:47.1) in sixth.

Stony Brook had its streak of three straight team titles come to an end but had three runners finish in the top 12. Henry Gartner led the Seawolves (23:49.1) in 7th place and Peter Fogarty (23:55.6) was right behind in eighth. Michael Hawkes (24:10.1) crossed the line in 12th.

William & Mary was led by Hayes Trapp, who placed third for the second year in a row with a time of 23:37.9. Brendan DiStefano (24:05.7) posted a 10th-place effort, Caleb Wilcox (24:12.1) was 13th and Eli Phillips (24:13) was 15th.

The top 15 individual finishers received All-CAA honors. Joining the runners from the top four teams was Monmouth’s Tennessee Tremain (24:12.5) in 14th place.
