Jasmine Nivar are the CAA women’s basketball weekly award winners for the week ending November 9.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Laine McGurk, Drexel
Junior | Guard | West Chester, Pa. / West Chester Rustin
McGurk had a career day helping Drexel start the season off 2-0, averaging 24.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists. Opening the season with a 68-60 win over Pittsburgh, the junior guard posted a personal-best 33 points, alongside career-highs in field goals (13) and 3-pointers (5). The Dragons’ winning ways continued in a 71-61 victory over Marist with McGurk registering 15 points and six rebounds.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jasmine Nivar, Campbell
Freshman | Guard | Apex, N.C. / Apex Friendship HS
Nivar had an impressive first week in college hoops, averaging 13.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in the Camels’ 1-2 stretch. The Apex Friendship alumna dropped 20 in her collegiate debut against Tulane before dropping 13 points with five rebounds and three steals in Campbell’s 88-23 win over Virginia-Lynchburg. Nivar’s performance against the Green Wave on opening night made her the first player in program history to reach the 20-point threshold in her collegiate debut.
