RICHMOND, Va. (November 18, 2025) – Monmouth graduate quarterback
Derek Robertson is one of 13 finalists for the 2025 Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award presented by Stats Perform.
The Doris Robinson Award, first presented in 2015 and in its 11th season, honors FCS student-athletes who exemplify excellence on the field, in the classroom and across the community. The values embody the leadership and integrity championed by Doris Robinson, a former schoolteacher and the wife of legendary Grambling State University coach Eddie Robinson. There is one finalist from each of the 13 FCS conferences.
Robertson, the CAA Offensive Player of the Year and a third-team All-America selection in 2024, put together a sensational 2025 campaign before suffering a wrist injury on October. 18. In seven games, he completed 192-of-268 passes for 2,482 yards and 27 touchdowns to lead Monmouth to a 6-1 start and a No. 6 national ranking. Robertson threw for at least 350 yards and four touchdowns in the Hawks’ first five contests and led FCS in passing yards, passing touchdowns and total offense. He continues to recover from the injury and is considered week-to-week going forward.
In the classroom, Robertson achieved a 3.31 GPA while completing his bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus in finance. He is currently working on his MBA. Robertson has made the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll in 10 semesters and is a four-time member of the Dean’s List.
Robertson is a three-year team captain and has been involved in numerous community service projects. Among the activities that he’s participated in are Read Across America, signing up donors for Be The Match and contributing at the Monmouth Football field day at a local elementary school.
Robertson was honored as the 2025 recipient of the Chuck Boone Leadership and Excellence Award on November 6.
The Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award recipient will be announced on Dec. 9, then honored at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show on Jan. 3 in Nashville, Tennessee. Also to be presented are the Walter Payton Award (FCS Offensive Player of the Year), Buck Buchanan Award (FCS Defensive Player of the Year), Jerry Rice Award (FCS Freshman Player of the Year), Eddie Robinson Award (FCS Coach of the Year) and HBCU National Player of the Year Award.
