Maia McCourt earned CAA field hockey weekly awards for the week ending on November 2.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Valentine Van Hellemont, Drexel
Junior | Forward/Midfielder | Lier, Belgium / Sint-Aloysius Institute
Van Hellemont delivered one of her best performances of the season in Drexel’s 5-1 victory over William & Mary. The junior forward netted twice within the opening eight minutes, before adding an assist later in the quarter. Van Hellemont’s 22 points are a team high and rank fourth in the conference.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Florence van Doorn, Monmouth
Freshman | Back | Zoetermeer, Netherlands / Erasmus College Zoetermeer
Van Doorn went back-to-back as CAA Defensive Player of the Week after lifting Monmouth to the CAA Regular Season Title. In a battle of two of the hottest offenses in the conference, the freshman back limited Northeastern to one goal, while contributing to three of Monmouth’s four tallies. The Netherlands product notched a goal of her own and assisted on two other strikes.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Maia McCourt, Monmouth
Freshman | Midfield | Cork, Ireland / Brandon Grammar School
McCourt opened the scoring in the first 47 seconds of the Hawks’ 4-1 win over Northeastern. The midfielder tipped a pass attempt from Lauren Relik to van Doorn past the netminder to give Monmouth an early 1-0 advantage. McCourt has two goals and two assists on the season.
