RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 8, 2025) – For the first time in conference history, Drexel and Monmouth are set to face off in the CAA Field Hockey Championship game. The Hawks (13-3) and Dragons (12-7) will duke it out for CAA glory from So Sweet A Cat Field in West Long Branch, N.J., on Sunday, November 9 at 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FloCollege.

The meeting means that for the first time since 2012, a team other than Delaware or William & Mary will lift the CAA trophy after No. 1 Monmouth defeated Hofstra 5-0 and No. 3 Drexel earned a 3-2 win over No. 2 Northeastern in semifinal action on Friday.

Monmouth excelled on both ends of the field to register its victory over the Pride. Leading by two heading into the final quarter of the semifinal matchup, the Hawks kicked it into high gear pouring in three goals in the final five minutes.. The Hawks combined stellar offense with dominant defense by not allowing Hofstra a single shot, holding a 24-0 advantage in the tally. Five different players netted, including Claire Campen, who charted her team-leading 12th goal, which also ranks second in the CAA.

Pili Lemoine had an impressive day for Drexel, reaching three points to give Drexel the win over Northeastern. CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Natali Foster, netted her fifth goal of the season to give the Dragons an early 1-0 lead. Despite two late goals from Northeastern, Lily Haag and Lemoine’s second-half goals were enough to push the Dragons through to the next round.

Monmouth has had the best of Drexel as of late, winning the last two contests including a 2-1 victory in semifinals of the 2024 CAA Championship. When the two programs last met on October 10, the Hawks won in a tight 3-2 overtime contest. The two teams traded goals through regulation, but Lauren Relik had the final say netting her ninth goal of the year.

On the sidelines, the programs boast two of the most successful head coaches in conference history, sharing eight championship game appearances between them. Under Carli Figlio, the Hawks have reached the championship game the past three seasons after joining the CAA in 2022, falling short in the last three efforts. In her 31st year at the helm, Denise Zelenak has guided the Dragons to five CAA Championship game appearances, with their only title coming in the 2012 season.

The winner will earn the CAA’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament with the destination learned on Sunday evening.
