Cruz Davis produced a pair of stellar performances, including a 36-point effort in the Pride’s road win over the ACC’s Pittsburgh, en route to his first CAA Player of the Week accolade of the season, while North Carolina A&T’s
Lewis Walker secured Rookie of the Week honors on Monday.
CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cruz Davis, Hofstra
Senior | Guard | Plano, Texas
Davis put forth an incredible week for Hofstra, notably guiding the Pride to an 80-73 road win over ACC foe Pitt. The Plano, Texas native averaged 30.0 points on 56.1% shooting from the floor with 4.0 made 3-pointers per game. He also chipped in 4.5 assists per outing. Davis started his week with a valiant effort on Wednesday at Columbia, doing all he could to help Hofstra rally with 16 of his 24 points after intermission. The senior guard did it all on Sunday as he poured in a career-high 36 points as Hofstra took down Pitt for its first win over an ACC opponent since 2015. Davis, who added seven assists and two rebounds, shot 14-of-25 from the field overall and 5-for-11 from distance. His 36 points are the most by a player in the CAA this season.
CAA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Lewis Walker, North Carolina A&T
Freshman | Guard | Winston-Salem, N.C.
Walker played a major role in North Carolina A&T defeating archrival N.C. Central on Saturday with his first career collegiate double-double. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native finished with 18 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field and 8-for-10 shooting from the charity stripe, adding a season-high 14 rebounds. The freshman guard had 14 points earlier in the week in a setback at Charlotte. For the week, Walker averaged 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 9-for-20 (.450) from the floor and 13-for-16 (.813) from the free throw line.
