RICHMOND, Va. – Hofstra’s Cruz Davis added to his weekly awards collection as the senior guard was named one of five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday.

The Pride’s leading scorer is just the third Hofstra player to earn national recognition, becoming the first since Tyler Thomas on Nov. 28, 2023. Davis’ national honor marked the CAA’s first national player of the week accolade of the 2025-26 campaign and the fourth conference player since the start of the calendar year to earn the nod.

Davis put forth an incredible week for Hofstra, notably pushing the Pride to an 80-73 road win over ACC foe Pittsburgh. The Plano, Texas native averaged 30.0 points on 56.1% shooting from the floor with 4.0 made 3-pointers per game. He also chipped in 5.0 assists per outing.

The Preseason All-CAA selection unleashed a career-high 36 points on 14-of-25 shooting from the field overall and 5-for-11 from distance as Hofstra took down the Panthers for its first win over an ACC opponent since 2015. Davis contributed to 63.8% of the team’s scoring as he added seven assists to his final line. His 36 points are the most points in a game by a CAA player this season. Davis started his week with a valiant effort on Wednesday at Columbia, doing all he could to help Hofstra rally with 16 of his 24 points in the final 20 minutes of action.

The Pride are 5-1 in Pennsylvania this season. Davis has averaged 22.3 points per game on 49.0% shooting from the floor, adding 18 triples and 5.7 assists per contest in the Keystone State.

Davis joined Duke’s Cameron Boozer, Xavier’s Tre Carroll, UC Santa Barbara’s Aidan Mahaney and Iowa State’s Milan Momcilovic as the nation’s top players following last week’s action. Hofstra’s top scorer also secured Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
