William & Mary (14-9, 8-2 CAA) remained unbeaten at home with its 10
th straight victory to down Charleston, 90-75, inside Kaplan Arena. Kyle Pulliam led the Tribe with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor and 4-for-4 showing at the line. W&M also had nine of its 10 scorers knock down a 3-pointer in the contest, finishing with 14 treys as a team.
Charleston (17-6, 7-3 CAA) claimed an 11-6 edge on the heels of Justas Stonkus scoring five of his 13 total points through the first four minutes. Derrin Boyd extended the Cougars’ advantage to nine after hitting back-to-back triples, only to see William & Mary’s Noah Collier score five unanswered points to pull the Tribe within four, 17-13, with 13:04 to play. After W&M pulled to within two, the Cougars leaned on Ante Brzovic to score five of the next seven points to claim a 26-17 lead with under nine minutes to play. William & Mary quickly surged and took its first lead, 35-32, after a 13-1 stretch was capped off by consecutive treys from Caleb and Gabe Dorsey with less than four minutes to play in the half. The Tribe took a 41-39 edge into the intermission after seeing seven different players combined for nine triples through 20 minutes.
William & Mary had a response for Charleston across the first six minutes of the second half, seeing only two ties and a lead no greater than four over that span. The Tribe eventually grew its advantage to nine, 60-51, after Mbeng drained a triple to cap an 8-0 run with under 12 minutes remaining in regulation. The Cougars tried to trim the deficit again, only to see Keller Boothby and Pulliam drain consecutive treys 30 seconds apart to jumpstart another eight-point run to take a 70-58 lead with 7:53 to play. The Tribe increased its lead down the stretch, knocking down seven of its final nine shots from the floor to end the game and secure a 15-point win. The Cougars’ Boyd finished with 21 points and five assists, while Brzovic put forth a 20-point, eight-rebound effort.
