Northeastern Throws Nation's-Best 17th Shutout And Beats Charleston, 6-0

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (May 22, 2025) – Will Jones and Charlie Walker combined on Northeastern’s nation’s-best 17
th shutout as the top-seeded Huskies blanked No. 4 Charleston, 6-0, in Game 4 of the CAA Baseball Championship on Thursday afternoon at the Ballpark at Patriots Point.
Northeastern (46-9), which extended the nation’s longest active winning streak to 25 games, advances in the winner’s bracket and will play either No. 2 UNCW or No. 3 Campbell at 7 p.m. on Friday. Charleston (35-21) will meet No. 6 Elon at 11 a.m. on Friday in an elimination contest.
Jones improved to 11-0 on the season after allowing three hits over 6.0 scoreless innings, while Walker picked up his seventh save after giving up one hit in the final 3.0 frames. They combined for five strikeouts and only let two runners reach second base.
Offensively, Northeastern belted three homers which accounted for four of its six runs. CAA Co-Player of the Year Harrison Feinberg, Carmelo Musacchia and Matt Brinker all went deep for the Huskies.
Northeastern got off to a fast start, loading the bases with nobody out in the first on a Ryan Gerety single and a pair of walks. A Jack Goodman sacrifice fly plated Gerety and Musacchia followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.
The Huskies tacked on another run in the third when Feinberg opened the frame with his 15
th homer of the season to right-center. Musacchia upped the lead to 4-0 in the fifth on a solo shot to right.
Northeastern capped the scoring in the eighth when Goodman drew a leadoff walk and Brinker followed with a two-run homer over the fence in left.
Musacchia finished 3-for-4 for NU, while Gerety and Brinker had two hits apiece.
Four different players had a hit for Charleston, with catcher Dylan Johnson’s double in the fourth the lone one that went for extra bases. Tyler Sorrentino reached base twice on a single and a walk.
