MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (May 23, 2025) – Top-seeded Northeastern got another dominant pitching performance and tallied eight extra-base hits to beat No. 2 UNCW, 11-1 in eight innings, and advance to the finals of the CAA Baseball Championship for the fourth time in five years on Friday night at the Ballpark at Patriots Point.

Northeastern (47-9) extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 26 games and tied the CAA record for overall victories in a season with 47. Two-time defending champion UNCW (33-23) meets Charleston in an elimination game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, with the winner taking on Northeastern at 5 p.m.

Senior Jordan Gottesman (9-2) earned the win for NU after allowing one run on two hits over 7.0 innings and recording a career-high 12 strikeouts. The left-hander gave up just an infield single through the first six frames and fanned 11 of the first 16 batters he faced.

Northeastern took a 1-0 lead in the third on Ryan Gerety’s fifth homer of the season to right-center. The Huskies tacked on another run in the fourth when Jack Doyle’s double down the right field line brought in Gregory Bozzo.

Northeastern strung together three straight hits to double its advantage in the sixth. Alex Lane got things started by launching a 437-foot solo homer to center. Doyle followed with a base hit, stole second and came in on Gerety’s double to the corner in right.

UNCW broke through in the seventh on Bryant Arendt’s solo homer to left. The Seahawks put runners on second and third with nobody out in the eighth, but Huskies’ reliever Brett Dunham escaped the jam with a pair of strikeouts.

Northeastern put the game away with seven runs in the eighth. Cam Maldonado’s ground rule double made it 6-1 and Harrison Feinberg followed with a two-run shot over the wall in left center. Carmelo Musacchia ended the game with a two-run homer to left.
