TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 30, 2025) - Riding a nation’s-best 27-game winning streak, Northeastern opens play in the NCAA Baseball Championship on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against SEC foe Mississippi State in the Tallahassee Regional.

The game between the second-seeded Huskies (48-9) and the third-seeded Bulldogs (34-21) will air on ESPN+. The regional opens at 3 p.m. on Friday with host and No. 9 national seed Florida State (38-14) meeting SWAC champion Bethune-Cookman (37-21).

Northeastern is making its 11th NCAA appearance and fourth since 2018 under head coach Mike Glavine. The Huskies swept through the CAA Baseball Championship with a 3-0 record last week, rallying past defending champ UNCW, 9-6, last Saturday to capture their first title since 2021.

NU features a dominant pitching staff that tops Division I with a 2.92 team ERA. The Huskies are led by a trio of All-CAA starting pitchers in Will Jones (11-0, 1.82 ERA), Aiven Cabral (10-2, 2.74 ERA) and Jordan Gottesman (9-2, 2.30 ERA). Topping the bullpen are Charlie Walker (3-0, 7 svs., 1.18 ERA) and Brett Dunham (2-0, 5 svs., 1.65 ERA).

Offensively, outfielder Harrison Feinberg, the CAA Co-Player of the Year and tournament Most Outstanding Player, leads the team with a .379 batting average, 18 homers and 66 RBI’s. Joining him in the lineup are first-team All-CAA standouts Cam Maldonado (.371, 15 HR’s, 59 RBI’s) and Jack Goodman (.325, 10 HR’s, 50 RBI’s). The Huskies also rank second nationally with 192 stolen bases, with five players tallying at least 20 SB’s.

Mississippi State has won nine of its last 11 games and is averaging 9.8 runs during that span. Ace Reese is batting .371 with 21 homers and 66 RBI’s, while Noah Sullivan hits .346 with 13 HR’s and 43 RBI’s. On the mound, Pico Kohn is 5-3 with a 4.13 ERA and has struck out 107 over 76.1 innings.

The double-elimination regional will continue on Saturday, May 31, with an elimination game at 12 p.m. and a winner's bracket game at 6 p.m. Sunday's games also are at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. If necessary, the two regional finalists will play another game on Monday at a time to be determined.
