Northeastern Has 27-Game Win Streak Snapped By Mississippi State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 30, 2025) – Northeastern suffered its first loss since April 6, falling 11-2 to Mississippi State, 11-2, in its opening game of the NCAA Baseball Tallahassee Regional on Friday night.
The Huskies (48-10), who had a 27-game winning streak snapped, will take on Bethune-Cookman at 1 p.m. on Saturday in an elimination contest. The game will air on ESPN+.
Northeastern jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Carmelo Musacchia’s two-out base hit drove in Cam Maldonado.
Mississippi State tallied three runs in the top of the second, but the Huskies responded with one of their own in the bottom of the frame as Will Fosberg walked and eventually came around to score on an error.
However, the Bulldogs put four more runs on the board in the third and kept NU off the board the rest of the way.
Shortstop Jack Goodman paced Northeastern offensively, going 2-for-3. Jack Bowery gave the Huskies a strong effort out of the bullpen, working 5.2 innings.
