RICHMOND, Va. (July 28, 2025) – With the start of the 2025 football season just one month away, CAA Football standouts continue to earn preseason All-America recognition.
Eleven players were chosen to the FCS Football Central Preseason All-America team and 14 players were selected to the Phil Steele FCS Preseason All-America squad.
Named to the FCS Football Central preseason All-America first team were Monmouth quarterback
Derek Robertson, Rhode Island wide receiver
Marquis Buchanan, Rhode Island linebacker
A.J. Pena, Villanova linebacker
Shane Hartzell, William & Mary defensive back
Jalen Jones and Elon punter
Jeff Yurk.
Picking up second team accolades from FCS Football Central were Stony Brook running back
Roland Dempster, Rhode Island offensive lineman
Brock Bethea and Villanova offensive lineman
Jake Picard, while third team honors went to Villanova running back
David Avit and Monmouth offensive lineman
JT Cornelius.
Eight CAA players garnered first team All-America honors from Phil Steele as Robertson, Dempster, Cornelius, Picard, Pena, Hartzell, Jones and Yurk were chosen. Making the second team were Buchanan and Bethea, while the fourth team included Stony Brook offensive lineman
