Hampton's Snipes Chosen To Watch List For HBCU National Player Of The Year Award

RICHMOND, Va. (July 31, 2025) – Hampton graduate running back
Ja’Quan Snipes was chosen to the 20-player watch list for the Stats Perform HBCU National Player of the Year Award. The award will honor the outstanding player from the 21 HBCU programs in FCS football.
Snipes stepped into a starting role midway through last season after several injuries in the Pirates’ backfield and rushed for a team-best 531 yards and six touchdowns. He ran for at least 80 yards in four contests, including 117 yards and 2 TD’s against Howard and 106 yards and a TD vs. Elon. Snipes started five games for Hampton in 2024.
A national panel involving HBCU/FCS coverage will select the award winner after the regular season. The recipient will be announced on Dec. 8, then honored at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Presentation on Jan. 3, 2026 in Nashville Tennessee.
