RICHMOND, Va. –
Elon and Stony Brook were tabbed 2025 Preseason Women’s Soccer favorites in their respective divisions, while Monmouth forward Summer Reimet garnered CAA Preseason Player of the Year honors, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Reigning CAA Champions Stony Brook topped the North Division with eight first-place votes to jump Monmouth (4) for the top spot. Hofstra rounded out the top three in the league with Towson, Northeastern and Drexel to follow. Elon earned nine first-place votes in the South Division to surpass Charleston (1) and William & Mary (2) for the top spot. The Cougars and the Tribe went second and third, respectively, followed by UNCW, Campbell and Hampton to close out the divisional poll.

The Seawolves will look to defend the conference crown in 2025, securing their first league title since joining the CAA with a 2-1 victory over Monmouth. Stony Brook returns two of its top three point-getters from last season, including double-digit goal scorer Linn Beck (26 P), who netted the eventual game-winner in the 55th minute of the championship game. Alongside the senior midfielder, Stony Brook’s Reilly Rich will return to the pitch for her graduate campaign after tallying 23 points last season and joining her teammate on the Preseason All-CAA Team.

The Phoenix will turn to Preseason All-CAA Team honorees defender Grace Gelhaus and goalkeeper Katie Bisgrove to bolster the defensive third this season. The tandem was instrumental in helping Elon earn the league’s highest winning percentage (.750) following a 13-4-1 overall record in 2024. Bisgrove tallied five shutouts in her first collegiate campaign, one of 15 freshmen nationally to register five or more clean sheets.

Reigning CAA Attacking Player of the Year Summer Reimet is coming off an impressive 2024 campaign that featured a league-best 14 goals and 33 points for the Hawks. Of her 14 strikes to the back of the net, the senior forward tallied a CAA-leading five game-winning goals, good for 17th in the nation. Monmouth, which enters its fourth CAA women’s soccer slate, has secured a pair of regular-season crowns since joining the conference and will look to reach its third CAA title game in as many seasons.

Charleston will welcome back all seven double-digit point-getters from a year ago, including Faith Slimmer (26 P) and Emma Wennar (19 P). The duo combined for 15 goals and 15 assists in 2024. William & Mary’s leading goal scorer Ivey Crain will look to continue her scoring prowess after tallying seven goals in 2024.

Hofstra (46), which was picked third in the North Division, has won five of the league’s last eight championships and will look to claim its first CAA title since 2022.

The 2025 Women’s Soccer season begins on Thursday, August 14, as 11 of the league’s 12 teams will see action on opening night.
