RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 1, 2025) – Hampton midfielder
Madisyn Strange notched the program’s first hat trick against an NCAA Division I opponent to earn CAA Offensive Player of the Week, while standout performances from Elon’s
Katie Bisgrove and UNCW’s
Meg Umemoto garnered Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week honors on Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madisyn Strange, Hampton
Junior | Midfielder | Newport News, Va.
Strange etched her name in the Hampton record book by becoming the first player in program history to record a hat trick against a Division I opponent with three goals in the second half of the Lady Pirates’ 4-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday. The junior midfielder notched her first two goals just 33 seconds apart in the 47th minute. The Newport News, Va., native managed to find the back of the net one final time in the 64th minute by knocking in a feed from Evan-Nichole Whitaker.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Katie Bisgrove, Elon
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | Ridgewood, N.J.
Bisgrove anchored a pair of clean sheets in a 2-0-0 week for the Phoenix that featured wins over Queens (3-0) and High Point (1-0). Against the Royals, the sophomore goalkeeper made a pair of saves before making seven stops in the victory over High Point. Bisgrove has posted four straight shutout victories, the first Elon goalkeeper to do that since McKenna Dalfonso during Elon's CAA title season (spring 2021). Bisgrove has gone 383:28 of game time without conceding a goal, as it has been just over six hours of game action since she allowed her lone goal of the season against VCU on Aug. 14.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Meg Umemoto, UNCW
Freshman | Midfielder | Inagi, Tokyo, Japan
Umemoto scored the first goal of her collegiate career to lead UNCW to a 1-0 victory against Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon at UNCW Soccer Stadium. Umemoto entered in the 33rd minute of action and, towards the end of an energetic first half, generated an emphatic strike into the upper left corner to put UNCW on the board in the 37th minute. The freshman midfielder also helped the Seahawks to a 1-1 draw with 2024 NCAA Tournament participant East Carolina.
