CAA Cross Country Weekly Awards - Sept. 23

RICHMOND, Va. (September 23, 2025) – Elon redshirt junior Katie Blount and Stony Brook junior Collin Gilstrap earned CAA cross country weekly awards following a record-setting effort from Blount and a race victory from Gilstrap.
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Katie Blount, Elon

Blount set a new Elon women’s cross country program record at the 5K adidas XC Challenge in Cary, N.C., posting a time of 16:41.4 to top the previous Phoenix best mark by nearly eight seconds. In her first cross country competition since 2023, Blount placed eighth overall in a field of 144 runners that included athletes from No. 3 NC State, No. 15 North Carolina and rv South Carolina.
MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Collin Gilstrap, Stony Brook
Junior | Central Valley, N.Y.
Gilstrap captured the individual title in a field of 98 runners at the Ted Owen Invitational in New Britain, Conn., clocking a winning time of 25:19.30 over the 8,200-meter course. Gilstrap’s performance helped the Seawolves claim the team championship as SBU had four runners place in the top 10.
