CAA Volleyball Weekly Awards – Sept. 29, 2025

RICHMOND, Va.  Charleston and Towson pack the CAA volleyball weekly awards on Monday as the Cougars’ freshmen Caroline Noonan and Makena Parthen join the Tigers’ Sydney Stewart and Malinah Purcell-Telefoni among the conference’s top players from the weekend slate.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caroline Noonan, Charleston
Freshman | Middle Blocker | Charlotte, N.C.
Noonan played a key part in both of Charleston's wins against then-undefeated Hofstra. In Friday's five-set victory, the freshman middle blocker registered a career-high 17 kills to pair with a .389 attacking percentage and four blocks. She also slammed home the final kill of the match in Friday’s win. Noonan continued her success Saturday with 16 kills, a .333 hitting percentage and a career-best nine blocks. The Charlotte, N.C., product was also crucial in the fifth set again, factoring into six points in the final frame, including three of the final five points of the match. Noonan is the only player in the CAA with 150-plus kills and 50-plus blocks.
 
CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Makena Parthen, Charleston
Freshman | Middle Blocker | Colorado Springs, Colo.
Parthen caused havoc at the net in the two victories versus Hofstra. In Friday's victory, the Colorado Springs, Colo., native collected six blocks to go with nine kills to knock off the Pride. The freshman middle blocker followed up with seven blocks and four kills in Saturday's five-set win. Parthen was crucial in holding Hofstra to a season-low .164 hitting percentage.
 
CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sydney Stewart, Towson
Senior | Libero | Elizabethtown, Pa.
In the Tigers’ first CAA road test against Northeastern, Stewart led all players with 50 total digs, averaging 5.56 per set. The senior had 29 in Friday's four-set match for a mark of 7.25 per set. The Tigers’ libero followed up with another 21 digs in Saturday’s match, marking the ninth time Stewart eclipsed 20 digs this season. She added two assists, two kills and a pair of service aces during the weekend.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Malinah Purcell-Telefoni, Towson
Freshman | Opposite Hitter/Middle Blocker | Pago Pago, American Samoa
Purcell-Telefoni totaled 22 kills for the Tigers on a .385 attacking percentage in two wins over Northeastern in Boston. The freshman added five blocks and six digs over the weekend to supplement her high-efficiency scoring. The Tigers’ dual threat racked up 11 slams in each victory to help Towson extend its NCAA Division I-leading winning streak to 13.
