CAA Volleyball Weekly Awards – Sept. 8, 2025

RICHMOND, Va.  A freshman takeover for the CAA Volleyball Weekly Awards as Campbell’s Maja Daca, Hofstra’s Julia Amorim and Towson’s Malinah Purcell-Telefoni garner recognition, alongside the Tigers’ Taylor Pagan on Monday.

CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Maja Daca, Campbell
Freshman | Outside Hitter | Warsaw, Poland
Daca earned Campbell Invitational MVP honors after a stellar weekend, amassing 47 kills, 12 aces and 24 digs. Up 18-17 in the third set against Norfolk State, Daca served five aces in the set's final seven points to take the first set en route to a 3-0 victory. She also had five total aces against GWU and leads the CAA in the category by a wide margin. The freshman outside hitter closed the tournament with her best performance, a 20-kill night in only four sets against UNCG. The Warsaw, Poland native ranks third among NCAA Division I freshmen and seventh overall in the nation with 17 total service aces this season.

CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Taylor Pagan, Towson
Junior | Outside Hitter | Pembroke Pines, Fla.
Pagan posted 60 kills on a .307 hitting percentage in the Tigers' 4-0 weekend hosting the Towson-Morgan State Invitational. The Colorado State transfer finished with two double-doubles, totaling 14 kills and 10 digs against Quinnipiac and 15 kills and 13 digs versus New Orleans. The junior outside hitter racked up a career-high 23 kills against Kent State to close out the weekend slate.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Malinah Purcell-Telefoni, Towson
Freshman | Middle Blocker | Pago Pago, American Samoa
Purcell-Telefoni finished Towson's perfect weekend by helping the Tigers on both sides of the ball, including 25 blocks on the defensive side. She averaged 2.83 points and 1.67 blocks per set over the weekend. The freshman had fewer than three errors in three matches and added five service aces during the weekend. The freshman middle blocker also posted 25 kills on a .353 hitting percentage.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Julia Amorim, Hofstra
Freshman | Middle Blocker | Pavuna, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Amorim made her presence known this week as she helped the Pride to a perfect 3-0 week and earned all-tournament honors at the Black Knight Invitational after averaging 1.20 kills and 1.30 blocks per set, while hitting at a .333 clip.  The middle blocker tallied 12 kills and 13 blocks in the three matches to give Hofstra a strong defensive presence. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native had nine kills against Rider for her best match of the week. Amorim tallied five blocks against Army West Point and four versus Rider.
