Jasmine Nivar are the CAA women’s basketball weekly award winners for the week ending on January 11.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Camryn Collins, Northeastern
Sophomore | Guard | Foxboro, Mass.
Collins averaged 18.5 points over two games to help Northeastern earn its first CAA win of the year. The Rider transfer jumpstarted her week with an 18-point performance in a narrow double-overtime loss to N.C. A&T on Friday. Two days later, Collins took over the second half in a 72-67 victory over Monmouth. The sophomore dropped 19 points, including going 4-of-5 from distance, to snap the Hawks’ eight-game unbeaten streak.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jasmine Nivar, Campbell
Freshman | Guard | Apex, N.C. / Apex Friendship HS
Nivar headlined two victories for the Camelslast week, averaging 16.0 points and 4.5 rebounds. The five-time CAA Rookie of the Week put up a career-high 24 points in Campbell’s 62-52 win over Elon. Nivar was incredibly efficient on the night, going 6-for-9 from the field and 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. The rookie guard followed that performance up with eight points and five rebounds in a narrow 45-43 victory over William & Mary.
