2026 CAA Field Hockey Championship Opens Play on Wednesday
RICHMOND, Va. -- The quest for the 2026 CAA Field Hockey Championship begins on Wednesday at Buckley Field on the campus of Drexel University.
No. 4 seed Northeastern (6-10, 3-3 CAA) will open the conference tournament against top-seeded No. 1 Fairfield (10-7, 5-1 CAA) in a Noon tilt, followed by a showdown between No. 3 Drexel (15-3, 5-1 CAA) and No. 2 Monmouth (10-6, 5-1 CAA) at 3 p.m. Both semifinal contests and the championship game will be streamed lived on FloCollege, with Nick Mantegna and Kara Guno on the call.
The Stags are making their first appearance in the CAA Tournament and will look to win their third straight conference title after capturing the NEC crown in 2024 and 2025. The Huskies are making their sixth consecutive postseason appearance, trying to secure the program’s first championship.
Fairfield and Northeastern will link up for their third all-time meeting on Wednesday, seeing the Stags even the series at one apiece following their 3-1 win on Oct. 16. Fairfield’s Bryn Andres opened the scoring on a goal with less than six minutes remaining in the first half, corralling a feed from Alyse Wanchisen and sending it into the back of the cage. Northeastern's Phoebe Hall tied the game at one before the halftime whistle. Kaelyn Fogelson put the Stags back in front less than four minutes into the second half, only for Kylie Corcoran to seal the victory from the penalty dot in the fourth quarter to take a two-goal lead.
Drexel and Monmouth will square off in the postseason for the third consecutive season and the fourth time in the last five championships. The two programs split their two previous semifinal showdowns, with the Dragons earning a 3-1 win in 2022 before the Hawks retaliated with a 2-1 victory in 2024. Last season, the two teams met in the CAA championship game and Drexel posted a 3-2 triumph and hoisted its first CAA trophy since 2012. The Dragons will look to be the first team to repeat as champions since Delaware won four straight titles from 2019-22.
The Dragons and the Hawks last met in the regular season on Oct. 2, with Monmouth earning a 3-0 shutout victory. Carrying a 1-0 lead into the fourth quarter behind a goal from Anna Moors, teammates Milla Frye and Claire Campen tripled the Hawks’ lead by scoring 40 seconds apart. Monmouth held Drexel to just two shot attempts in the contest.
The two semifinal winners will return to Buckley Field on Friday, Nov. 6, for a 3 p.m. showdown with a chance to punch their ticket into the 2026 NCAA Field Hockey Championship. The field for the national tournament will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 10 p.m., on NCAA.com.
