RICHMOND, Va. – CAA men’s and women’s Preseason Players of the Year, Towson attacker
Mikey Weisshaar and Stony Brook Midfielder
Isabella Caporuscio, as well as fellow Preseason All-CAA selections, Fairfield’s
Julian Radossich and Hofstra’s
Nikki Mennella, landed on the 2026 Tewaarton Award Watch List on Tuesday.
Weisshaar dazzled in his third season with the Tigers and notched 2025 CAA Offensive Player of the Year after dominating offensively. The senior attacker led the conference in goals (48) and points per game (4.5) en route to being named a consensus Third Team All-American from all three major lacrosse organizations (USILA, Inside Lacrosse, and USA Lacrosse), Weisshaar will look to build on a season that saw him become Towson’s first Tewaaraton Trophy nominee since 2019.
For the sixth consecutive season, Stony Brook has seen at least one nominee on the national player of the year watch list and Caporuscio joined elite Seawolves company with her selection. The reigning CAA Midfielder of the Year appeared and started in all 21 games for the Seawolves last season, rounding out the league’s top five with 49 goals and 68 points. Caporuscio also garnered USA Lacrosse and Nike Lacrosse Media All-America Honorable Mentions for her success on the other side of the ball, bolstering one of the country’s top defensive teams and picking up 2.5 ground balls per game. The junior midfielder will look to start her 2026 campaign on a high note as the Seawolves open the year against UAlbany on Sunday.
Mennella became the first Hofstra player since 2021 to receive a nod to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She is coming off a stellar 2025 campaign as she posted 99 points on 62 goals and 37 assists en route to CAA Attacker of the Year. Her 6.60 points per game set a new CAA record and ranked 11th all-time in NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse. The Smithtown, N.Y., native also registered 67 draw controls, eight ground balls, and six caused turnovers. The redshirt junior attacker had a pair of goals and secured two ground balls in Hofstra's 2026 season opener.
Reigning CAA Defender of the Year Radossich was a consensus Honorable Mention All-American after ranking second in the nation in caused turnovers with a program benchmark of 42. He also picked up his second straight All-CAA First Team after collecting 44 ground balls, leading the team among non-faceoff men. With Radossich on the backline, Fairfield's defense led the conference and ranked 11th in NCAA Division I with 9.27 goals allowed per game. The Stags will look to build on their season-opening win when it takes on Brown on Saturday.
