Campbell 84, William & Mary 83

Jeremiah Johnson’s layup at the buzzer lifted Campbell (13-14, 7-7 CAA) to an 84-83 victory over William & Mary (16-11, 7-8 CAA), erasing a 10-point deficit and completing the season sweep of the Tribe. Johnson finished with a game-high 32 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor and a 6-of-8 mark from distance. The Camels’ hero also added seven boards and seven assists in 40 minutes of work. Cam Gregory and DJ Smith both sank three 3-pointers and notched 16 points in the win. The Tribe’s Reese Miller led the visitors with 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting.
Campbell’s first six makes from the floor came from behind the arc, watching Johnson sink three of them to take a 20-13 lead with under 13 minutes to play. The Tribe worked its way back to take a 31-26 edge after Jo’el Emanuel rattled the rim with a slam and hit a triple to spark a stretch of 11 unanswered points, part of a larger 20-6 run. William & Mary saw its lead grow to as many as double digits before taking an eight-point lead, 43-35, into the intermission. Emanuel scored 10 of his 13 points in the opening stanza.
William & Mary countered an early 10-3 run from the Camels with a 12-6 spurt of their own to hold on to a seven-point lead, 60-53, with 12:22 to play. After the two teams traded blows, Campbell’s Gregory took over after connecting on a trifecta and logging eight points on the team’s 10-0 run to secure a 73-69 lead with under seven minutes to play. Neither team led by more than four down the stretch, exchanging three ties and four lead changes over the final 6:26. After W&M’s Miller went coast-to-coast for his layup with five seconds, Johnson flew past the Tribe defender and floated his attempt off the glass, watching the ball roll around the rim before falling as time expired to secure the one-point win.
Charleston 74, N.C. A&T 61

Charleston (18-10, 11-4 CAA) staved off a late surge to earn a 74-61 victory at North Carolina A&T (10-15, 3-11 CAA). Jlynn Counter led the Cougars with 16 points and seven assists. Christian Reeves posted 13 points and seven boards, while Chris Davis recorded an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double with two steals. The Aggies’ Lewis Walker matched Counter with a game-high 16 points.
The Cougars quickly jumped out to a 12-0 advantage in the first five minutes of the game, seeing five different scorers over that span. Shortly after Jaxon Prunty hit a triple, teammate Connor Hickman knocked down back-to-back treys of his own to help the Cougars take a 23-9 edge. The Aggies slashed their deficit down to as few as six, only for CofC to close the half on a 9-0 run and take a 41-26 edge into the intermission with a 3-pointer from Chris Davis Jr. with two seconds remaining.
Charleston continued to bolster its lead in the second half, watching it grow to as many as 23. The Aggies did not go quietly as Mujahiid Burton and Dwayne Pierce orchestrated a run of 18 unanswered points, watching both hit a pair of triples to make it a four-point game, 58-54, with under eight minutes to play. It was as close as N.C. A&T would get as the Cougars closed the game on a 13-5 run to capture the 74-61 win. Pierce and Burton finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Drexel 70, Northeastern 61

A combined 37 points from Victor Panov and Shane Blakeney led Drexel (14-14, 8-7 CAA) to a 70-61 victory at Northeastern (6-19, 2-12 CAA). Panov watched three of his six makes go down from distance en route to a team-high 19 points, adding seven boards and five assists. Blakeney chipped in 18 points, seven rebounds and a trio of swipes. The Dragons shot 57.1% from the floor (24-42 FG) in the win. The Huskies’ Xavier Abreu matched the game high with 19 points of his own.
After the Dragons took an early five-point lead, the Huskies retaliated with a 10-3 run to claim a 10-8 lead with 13:18 to play. JB Frankel doubled Northeastern’s edge to four after sinking a triple and finishing in close two minutes later. Drexel surged out to a 16-3 scoring spree, watching Victor Panov finish at the rim to close out the run and take a nine-point edge. The Dragons took a 29-24 lead into halftime.
The Huskies rattled off eight straight points in the early part of the second half, watching their deficit dwindle down to one, 33-32. Panov connected from distance to spark a run that put Drexel back up by eight, 43-35, with 12:38 to play. The Huskies battled back to within one over the next six minutes with the help of Xavier Abreu and Frankel doing damage from distance. The Dragons pulled away down the stretch to hold on for the nine-point win.
UNCW 79, Monmouth 69

UNCW (23-4, 12-2 CAA) saw six players score in double figures en route to a 79-69 victory over Monmouth inside Trask Coliseum (14-13, 8-6 CAA). Nolan Hodge connected on four trifectas and notched 16 points in the win. Patrick Wessler recorded his league-leading 13
th double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Noah Ross and Jahnathan Lamothe chipped in 12 and 11 points apiece, respectively, while Christian May and Madison Durr finished 10 points each. The Hawks’ Kavion McClain scored 19 of his 27 points in the second half.
Monmouth’s Stefanos Spartalis and UNCW’s May scored each of their team’s first four points of the contest. Neither team saw a lead larger than four over the first 10 minutes of the game, until Dok Muordar finished in close to help the Hawks take a 22-16 lead with 8:45 to play. The Seahawks countered over the final eight minutes and eventually captured a five-point lead, 36-31, following a trifecta from Lamothe with under five seconds remaining in the first half.
Monmouth scored the first seven points of the second half to claim a two-point edge. Justin Ray and Jack Collins helped expand the lead to as many as eight, 51-43, after jumpstarting a 10-2 run with 12:28 to play. The Seahawks came roaring back as Hodge connected from distance to cap off a 10-point retaliation to go up by two, 53-51, at the midway point. After McClain scored five straight points for Monmouth, Hodge sank a pair of triples to reclaim a six-point edge, 64-58, with 6:29 to play. The Hawks took a one-point lead with 4:19 to go, only for UNCW to close the game on a 15-4 run and secure a double-digit victory.
Hofstra 79, Hampton 43

A 20-point effort from Cruz Davis lifted Hofstra (18-10, 9-6 CAA) to a 79-43 home win over Hampton (12-15, 6-8 CAA). The junior shot 7-of-11 from the floor with three triples, adding five assists and four boards to his final line. Silas Sunday and Biggie Patterson chipped in 12 points apiece, with the latter turning in a double-double after pulling down 11 boards. The Pride shot 56.9% from the floor (33-58 FG) in the triumph. The Pirates’ Etienne Strothers logged 12 points and five assists in the setback.
After missing its first two shots of the game, Hofstra knocked down 10 of its next 15 shots, including a pair from Cruz Davis on the back end to help the Pride take a 22-8 lead with 8:27 to play in the opening frame. Hampton battled back to make it a 10-point game as Aidan Haskins and Daniel Johnson sank late triples. Edmead gave the Pride a 13-point cushion, 37-24, at the break with a trey of his own with six seconds left. Hampton worked its deficit to as few as eight to open the second half. Hofstra took over and went on a 24-5 run to put the game well out of reach. Patterson sparked a stretch of 11 unanswered points with the first six tallies before sealing the win.
