UNCW Continues Season in 2026 National Invitation Tournament; Faces Yale on Tuesday

RICHMOND, Va. – After securing the outright CAA Regular Season Championship, UNCW will continue its season in the 2026 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) when it visits No. 3 seed Yale on Tuesday.
 
The showdown between the Seahawks and the Bulldogs is slated for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
 
UNCW earned an automatic bid to the NIT with the outright regular season crown and a “KNIT” average score of 125 or better, well above the mark with a 97. The Seahawks became the first CAA team to make the NIT field since 2023.
 
UNCW enters the NIT with a 26-6 record, marking the fifth straight 20-win season under CAA Coach of the Year Takayo Siddle. Senior Nolan Hodge will lead the charge after pacing four players scoring in double figures with 14.4 points per game. Big man Patrick Wessler has also been a steady presence at the rim with 13.9 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest.
