Mackenzie Mathis and Elon’s
Anna Dew split Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Player of the Week
Mackenzie Gorczyca, Towson
Sophomore | INF | Prince Frederick, Md.
Gorczyca started all three games in Towson's 2-1 series victory over Monmouth. The sophomore infielder went 5-for-11 at the dish with a .455/.500/.545 slash line. She smashed a double to go with four RBIs and three runs scored over the weekend. Gorczyca opened the weekend with a 3-for-3 showing with a pair of RBIs and a run scored. The Prince Frederick, Md., product followed up with another two-RBIs performance in the team’s 7-4 victory. Gorczyca scored the first run of the series finale in the top of the seventh frame of a 10-inning affair that saw Towson emerge with a 4-2 win.

Mackenzie Mathis, Charleston
Sophomore | P | Lexington, S.C.
Mathis tossed 10 scoreless innings of work in a series win over N.C. A&T, striking out 12 batters and surrendering just five hits. The sophomore hurler tossed a complete-game shutout to open the weekend, striking out 10 and allowing just four baserunners in seven innings of action. The Lexington, S.C., native came on in relief in the series finale and dominated in her three frames of work. Mathis faced 10 batters and struck out two Aggies to seal the series victory with a 2-1 win.

Anna Dew, Elon
Junior | P | Harrisburg, N.C.
Dew went 1-1 last week and helped the Phoenix win its second CAA series last weekend at UNCW. The Harrisburg, N.C., native posted a 0.54 ERA in 13 innings, striking out nine batters. She had a pair of complete-game efforts last weekend at UNCW, including posting her second shutout of the season in the Phoenix's 2-0 shutout win on Friday. Dew struck out four batters in the series-opening victory. She followed up with a pitcher’s duel in the circle with UNCW’s Camille Hamilton once again, battling a pesky UNCW lineup in a 1-0 setback.
Rookie of the Week
Camille Hamilton, UNCW
Freshman | P | Garner, N.C.
Hamilton continued her dominance last week, notching a 1-1 mark with a 0.98 ERA and 10 strikeouts across 14.1 innings of work. The freshman pitcher outdueled Elon’s Anna Dew in the series finale, tossing a one-hit, complete-game shutout with five punchouts to edge the Phoenix, 1-0. After a brief relief appearance in the team’s midweek matchup against Duke, Hamilton also battled Dew in the opening game of the series, going the distance and striking out four in the 2-0 setback.
