RICHMOND, Va. – Hofstra attacker Nikki Mennella added National Co-Offensive Player of the Week to her list of weekly accolades, being recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on Tuesday.

Mennella racked up eight points in a 13-10 road win over Towson on Saturday. The redshirt junior unleashed six goals and two assists, while also adding eight draw controls. It marked the third time this season the Smithtown, N.Y., native has scored six or more goals in a game and the ninth time in her career. Her eight draw controls tied her season high.

Mennella, who also committed just one turnover in the contest, turned on the jets when the Pride needed her the most. After Hofstra and Towson battled to a 7-7 deadlock midway through the third quarter, Mennella had a personal 3-0 run to make it 10-7 and gave Hofstra a lead it would not relinquish.

The Pride’s top attacker continues to be one of the league’s top scorers, notching 51 points (2nd in CAA) this season. The redshirt junior has found the back of the net 39 times this year and has logged 154 snipes in her career. Mennella is six goals away from cracking the league’s all-time top 20 in career goals, looking to tie Eleni Vagelatos (160, 1996-99) from American. She has already reached top-20 status on the career points side with 226, sitting 18th all-time in league history heading into the weekend slate.
