RICHMOND, Va. (March 9, 2026) – Campbell’s Emma Penkunas and Stony Brook’s Hailey Huebner picked CAA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, while fellow Camel Adria Welsh and Hofstra’s Shannon Steck split Rookie of the Week recognition on Monday.

Offensive Player of the Week
Emma Penkunas, Campbell
Sophomore | Attacker | Holly Springs, N.C.
Penkunas put in a solid performance off the bench all week to help the Camels go 3-0. She recorded her first career hat trick in Campbell’s win over Furman on Monday, doing so on four shots. She followed that up with a goal and assist against Wofford before tallying four goals and an assist in Campbell’s 16-9 win over ECU. She put all five of her efforts on frame, and the win over the Pirates was the eighth in a row for the Camels, setting a new program record.

Defensive Player of the Week
Hailey Huebner, Stony Brook
Sophomore | Defender | Holly Springs, N.C.
Huebner had a monstrous week, causing 10 turnovers and scooping up eight ground balls across two contests against ranked opponents. The sophomore defender began the week by registering seven caused turnovers in an overtime win over No. 19 Denver. Her final forced miscue came in the final minute of overtime, which helped the Seawolves’ transition to offense and set up the eventual game-winner to knock off the Pioneers. She followed it up with three more caused turnovers and three ground balls in a narrow setback at No. 9 Johns Hopkins.

Co-Rookie Player of the Week
Adria Welsh, Campbell
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Ellicott City, Md.
Welsh had an impressive week in goal for the Camels, going 3-0 and helping the Camels reach their longest winning streak in program history. The Ellicott, Md., native bolstered a .408 save percentage in three victories. In Sunday’s win over ECU, the freshman tied her career high with 10 saves. She made three saves in the third quarter alone, shutting out the Pirates in that frame. At one point, ECU went over 20 minutes of game action between goals. In addition, Welsh recorded two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Against Furman, Welsh had four saves and corralled three ground balls. She followed that up with three ground balls and six saves on Wednesday against Wofford.

Co-Rookie of the Week
Shannon Steck, Hofstra
Freshman | Midfielder | Massapequa, N.Y.
Steck had a stellar week for Hofstra in their two games, totaling a team-high 10 points with a squad-best eight goals and two assists. The Massapequa, N.Y., native tallied a hat trick to start the week against third-ranked Maryland. The freshman midfielder then unloaded team-highs of five goals and seven points, while adding a pair of assists. She also had a ground ball against the Seahawks. Steck’s hat trick total jumped to three after a pair in last week’s action, and she tallied five or more points for the first time in her career. The Pride’s rookie is the first Hofstra freshman with at least five goals in a game since Nikki Mennella had six against Marist on March 1, 2023.
