Elon Goes Back-To-Back As CAA Women's Tennis Champion After Thrilling 4-3 Win Over William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 19, 2026) – Top-seeded Elon pulled out a pair of three-set thrillers to go back-to-back as CAA Women’s Tennis champions following a 4-3 victory over #2 William & Mary on Sunday afternoon at McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.

The Phoenix (16-4) earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship for the second year in a row with the win.



Elon produced an impressive performance in doubles to grab a 1-0 advantage. The Phoenix No. 1 team of Mariana Reding and Simone Bergeron won the final four games to top Francesca Davis and Sia Chaudry, 6-2. Elon secured the point at No. 3 when Lisa Kranec and Cornelia Kack pulled away for a 6-2 triumph over Emma Pell and Yaelle Vaissaud.

William & Mary got off to a quick start in singles as Mira Kirnagis rolled past Alexis Nyborg, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Elon moved back on top when Kack downed Chaudry, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 but the Tribe leveled the match at 2-2 minutes later when Alexa Gonzalez-Galino topped Madison Cordisco, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 6.

The remaining three matches all went to three sets. Reding rallied for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win over Tilda Larsson to put Elon on top 3-2, but William & Mary tied it back up at No. 2 when Davis captured the final two games and defeated Bergeron, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The match was decided on Court 5, where Elon’s Kranec and W&M’s Rebeka Svabikova battled to 6-6 in the third set. Kranec used a series of winners to build a 6-0 advantage in the tiebreaker before clinching the match, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1).
