Elon, William & Mary Set For Rematch In CAA Women's Tennis Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 18, 2026) – Top-seeded Elon and #2 William & Mary are set for a rematch in the finals of the CAA Women’s Tennis Championship after both teams earned convincing semifinal victories on Saturday at the Mackesy Tennis Center. The Phoenix beat #5 Drexel, 4-0, and the Tribe followed with a 4-0 victory against #3 Charleston.
Elon and William & Mary will meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday for the CAA title. Elon is the defending champion while William & Mary claimed three straight trophies from 2022-24.
Elon jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a strong effort in doubles. The Phoenix No. 3 tandem of Lisa Kranec and Cornelia Kack picked up a 6-3 win over Christine Fourie and Sofiya Snitko and the No. 1 duo of Mariana Reding and Simone Bergeron secured the point by beating Lorie Lemongo and Adva Dabah, 6-4.
The Phoenix was equally as impressive in singles with three straight set victories. At No. 4, Alexis Nyborg topped Fourie, 6-2, 6-4 and Kranec followed with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Rebecca Fiedler at No. 5. Elon locked up the win on Court 3 when Reding beat Dabah, 6-2, 6-3.
William & Mary used a dominant doubles performance to open up a 1-0 advantage. The Tribe’s top tandem of Sia Chaudry and Francesca Davis tallied a 6-2 win over Sia Cariov and Francesca Salvato before the No. 2 team of Alexia Gonzalez-Galino and Mira Kernagis clinched the point by downing Oziera Ahmad and Riley Trinkle, 6-3.
Charleston battled in singles, but William & Mary used a trio of straight set wins to earn a berth in the finals. Davis rolled past Ahmad, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and Kernagis made it 3-0 when she topped Jaiden McKee, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4. The match was decided at No. 6 as W&M’s Gonzalez-Galino defeated Trinkle, 6-0, 7-5.
