CAA Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards – April 20, 2026
Dylan Smith
RICHMOND, Va. – Drexel’s
Elena Bontatibus secured Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career, while repeat winners, Stony Brook’s
Hailey Huebner and
Mirabella Altebrando, captured Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week recognition, respectively, on Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week
Elena Bontatibus, Drexel
Junior | Midfielder | Simsbury, Conn.
Bontatibus nearly doubled her point total on the season after registering a personal-best eight points in the Dragons’ 15-10 win over Monmouth to keep their postseason chances alive. Entering the midweek matchup with just nine points in total this season, the junior attacker rattled off a career-high five goals with three assists. Bontatibus set an early tone with a pair of assists and a goal in the first 10 minutes of the contest, only to continue to apply the pressure with timely goals, including a fourth-quarter snipe that halted a Monmouth three-goal spurt.?
Defensive Player of the Week
Hailey Huebner, Stony Brook
Sophomore | Defender | Bethesda, Md.
Huebner was instrumental in helping Stony Brook allow just 10 total goals in a 2-0 week. The sophomore caused a combined 11 turnovers in victories over Arizona State and Hofstra. After a trio of forced miscues against the Sun Devils, Huebner’s eight CTs and five GBs stifled the opposition in a 15-4 win over Hofstra to guide the Seawolves to at least a share of the CAA Regular Season Championship for the fourth straight season. The Seawolves’ defender also tied the most caused turnovers in a conference game, matching George Mason’s Kinsley O’Garrow against Richmond on April 14, 2000. Huebner earned her sixth Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Mirabella Altebrando, Stony Brook
Freshman | Attacker | Miller Place, N.Y.
Altebrando amassed 12 points in a 2-0 week for Stony Brook, impacting more than a third of the team’s scoring in wins over Arizona State and Hofstra. Altebrando began the week with a seven-point effort against the Sun Devils, notching a hat trick and dishing out four assists in a 19-6 routing. The freshman attacker followed that up with five assists in a 15-4 win over Hofstra in the battle of Long Island and the No. 1 overall seed in the CAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
