RICHMOND, Va. – Charleston’s Bronwyn Conroy and UNCW’s Camille Hamilton were named to NFCA’s Freshman of the Year Top 25 List on Thursday afternoon.

The CAA is one of five conferences nationally to have multiple players on the NFCA’s top 25 list for best freshman, joining the SEC (7), Big Ten (6), Big 12 (2) and Conference USA (2).

Conroy has been lethal at the dish and on the base path all season. Boasting a .391/.451/.462 slash line, the Marietta, Ga., native is second in the conference with 61 hits in total, a mark that sits tied for fourth among freshmen nationally. Packaged with her ability to get on base frequently, Conroy has swiped 35 bases on 40 attempts, leading all first-year players and sitting fourth overall in NCAA Division I. The speedy outfielder has produced an 87.5% efficiency in stolen bases, also sitting second in the conference. Conroy has also been named CAA Rookie of the Week on three occasions.

Hamilton has been an incredible addition in the circle for UNCW this season, unleashing a 12-3 mark with five complete games, three saves and a league-best 1.49 ERA across 94.0 innings of work. Furthermore, she has been vital to six shutouts this season, including three on her own. The Garner, N.C., product’s best performance of the season came on the opening night of conference play as Hamilton tossed the program’s first perfect game, based on available records, in just her fourth career start. The two-time CAA Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honoree struck out a season-best 11 batters overall in the 8-0 win over N.C. A&T on March 13, sitting down seven of the first 12 she faced on strikes.
