RICHMOND, Va. (April 3, 2026) – Four programs were represented in the 2025-26 women’s CAA Indoor Track and Field major awards, with Hampton having a conference-high two honorees. Awards were voted on by the conference’s head coaches.
North Carolina A&T senior Spirit Morgan and Towson senior Leeann Redlo split Field Athlete of the Year honors, Hampton senior Brianna Charles garnered Track Athlete of the Year accolades, Hampton freshman Nyla Felton collected the Rookie of the Year award, and Elon’s Mark Elliston was named Coach of the Year.
Felton impressed during her rookie season, accounting for 14.5 points in the CAA Championship. The North Plainfield, N.J. resident finished second in the 400m (55.14), third in the 4x400m relay (3:49.26), and fourth in the 200m (24.14). Felton’s times in the 200m and 400m were season bests, while her time in the latter event ranked second in the conference this campaign.
Morgan went undefeated in her signature event - the high jump - this season, shattering Aggies' records along the way. The senior captured the conference title for the second-straight season, becoming the only female in program history to exceed six feet with a personal best 1.86m (6’1.25”) mark. The jump put her in a six-way tie for the 14th best leap in the nation.
Redlo was dominant this season, cracking into Towson’s top-five performances in four events. The CAA’s Most Outstanding Field Performer at this year’s championship set a program record in the high jump after leaping 1.82m (5’ 11.5”), which also ranked third in the conference and 29th nationally. The senior added program marks in the 60m hurdles (8.58, 4th all-time), pentathlon (3,831 points, 2nd all-time), and long jump (5.92m, 2nd all-time).
Charles contributed in multiple sprinting events, leading to a team-high 21.5 points at the CAA Indoor Championship. The meet’s Most Outstanding Track Performer’s day was highlighted by wins in the 60m dash (7.38) and 200m race (23.47).
Elliston guided Elon to the second indoor league title in program history. Crowned champions in 2023, Elliston’s squad accumulated 135 points on the day to outpace defending champion Hampton (121.50). The Phoenix found the podium eight times, earning two gold medals.
