TOWSON, Md. (May 1, 2026) – For the first time in tournament history, Towson and Stony Brook will face off with CAA hardware on the line on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. from Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md.

Top-seeded Towson punched its ticket with. A 14-7 win over No. 4 Monmouth 14-7, while No. 3 Stony Brook narrowly bested No. 2 Drexel 9-7.

The two programs last met on March 21, when Towson stormed back for a 13-10 victory. Trailing 6-2 early in the second quarter, the Tigers flipped the game with a dominant 9-1 run. Alex Roussel paced the Tigers with four goals and one assist, all coming in the opening 39 minutes. Trevor Phipps also notched his first-career hat trick in the matchup. Collin Williamson was the hot hand for the Seawolves, finishing the day with two goals and three assists.

Towson got off to a slow start this campaign, falling to 2-3 after a 17-13 loss to Loyola. When Shawn Nadelen’s squad traveled to then No. 17 Virginia just four days later, their season turned around. The 13-9 victory over a nationally-ranked Cavaliers program catapulted Towson to the nine-game win streak it is currently riding.

The Tigers boast three 2026 CAA men’s lacrosse major award winners in their squad, including the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year, Mikey Weisshaar. The second overall pick in the 2026 PLL Draft showed his playmaking abilities in Towson’s semifinals win over Monmouth, dishing out a game-high five assists. CAA Defensive Player of the Year Matt Nilan was efficient when his name was called on, making seven saves.

Stony Brook is in the midst of one of its best seasons in recent history. Owning a 9-5 record, the Seawolves are set to make their first appearance in the CAA Championship Game since the 2023 campaign. The start of the season was difficult, losing the first three matchups to Sacred Heart, Rutgers, and Virginia. The tides turned after an 8-6 win over Iona, which propelled Stony Brook to nine wins in its 11 contests.

The Seawolves’ 9-7 victory over the Dragons marked just the second time in program history that they defeated Drexel to earn a berth in the CAA Championship Game. Goalie Tommy Wilk was the difference maker, tallying 16 saves in the effort. His tally marked the 11th double-digit performance of the season and eighth in the last nine games. On the attack, Kian McCoy produced his second hat trick of the season.

The game will be streaming live on FloCollege, with the winner earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
