CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship Set For Friday and Saturday Competition in Elon

Elon, N.C. (May 14, 2026) – The 2026 CAA Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships head to Elon, N.C., on Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16. The Championships will take place at the Jerry and Jeanne Robertson Track and Field Complex on the campus of Elon. 

Competition kicks off Friday at 9:30 a.m. with the start of the decathlon, followed by the first event of the heptathlon 15 minutes later. The field event finals begin with the women’s hammer (10 a.m.) and end with the men’s pole vault (7 p.m.) A few finals fill out the afternoon with the women’s steeplechase (7:25 p.m.) and men’s steeplechase (7:45 p.m.) before a break separates the women’s 10,000m final (8:10 p.m.) and men’s 10,000m final (9 p.m.), which closes out the night.

Saturday is action-packed with field events commencing with the women's high jump at 9:45 a.m. and running until the men’s high jump at 3:00 p.m. Interwoven between the field events are the running finals, starting with the women’s 4x100m relay at 1 p.m. and concluding with the men’s 4x400m relay at 4:50 p.m. Simultaneously, the decathlon wraps up at 3:35 p.m. with the 1500m while the heptathlon finishes a little earlier at 1:30 p.m. with the 800m.

Women’s Championship

The host, Elon, will look to retain its crown, backed by a strong group of distance runners. The Phoenix are within the top three in the CAA in multiple events, including the 1500m and 10,000m races. Junior Abigail Beville claimed CAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honors after running a conference-topping 4:19.75 time in the 1500. In the latter event, a trio of Elon student athletes have the top-three times in the conference, with senior Katie Blount’s 33:31.63 at the Raleigh Relays being the best. Junior Hannah Weber (33:53.07) and senior Jasmine Young (34:55.77) also claimed their best times at the same event. 
 
Coming off one of its best finishes at a CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, Hampton will look to take home hardware. The Pirates had two major award winners in the indoor season, including senior Brianna Charles, who holds one of the top times in the 200m with a 23.53 effort. In the field events, junior Danielle James is one of the conference’s top jumpers with a 6.09m leap in the long jump and 12.42m performance in the triple jump (both sit second in the CAA).
 
North Carolina A&T holds the top marks this season in all three jumping events, claiming nationally ranked positions as a result. In the high jump, Spirit Morgan returns after a top-10 nationally ranked leap of 1.84m at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet. Olivia Dowd is 38th amongst Division I athletes in the triple jump after her 13.03m finish at the Pepsi Florida Relays. She also holds the CAA’s best mark in the long jump with a 6.26m performance.
 
Men’s Championship
 
North Carolina A&T will look to claim its fourth consecutive CAA Track and Field title, after becoming the most recent indoor champions. The Aggies are stacked from top to bottom with All-Conference level performers. Of the group, All-American Jason Holmes is the standout after running the 12th-best time in the nation (13.43) in the 110m hurdles. The sprinter is also a part of a 4x100m team that ran the 42nd-best split in the country (39.30) at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet earlier this season. Junior Xavier Partee claimed CAA Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors twice in what was a dominant outdoor season. The jumper's 15.57m mark in the triple jump remains first in the CAA and 56th nationally. 
 
Monmouth earned second at last year’s championship and will look to lean on its top field performers to lead it to victory. The CAA’s most recent Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, graduate student Evan Niedrowski, paces the conference by almost a meter and a half (68.03m) in the javelin, cracking the nation’s top 50. Freshman Gavin Nelson and sophomore David Godbolt Jr. also split the CAA’s top performance in the high jump, clearing 2.10m.
 
William & Mary has two CAA Indoor Track and Field major award winners in their ranks, with junior Brian Walsh and freshman Uriah Harris set to compete. Walsh is the CAA’s top performer in the decathlon this season, after accumulating 6,489 points at the Duke Invitational earlier this campaign. Harris cracks the conference’s top five in three field events, including the shot put. The first-year thrower’s 17.89m is first amongst his peers, while he also sits second in the discus (55.83m) and fifth in the hammer throw (52.02m)
